KVRTA to Suspend Service on 40th Street between Cross Lanes Drive and Nitro Due to Bridge Replacement Effective June 9, 2009


Charleston, WV: Effective Tuesday, June 9, 2009 the West Virginia Department of Highways will close the 40th Street Bridge in Nitro for replacement.  Bridge construction is anticipated to last until September 30, 2009.  During the construction period the Kanawha Valley Regional Transportation Authority (KVRTA) will suspended all service on 40th Street provided by the Cross Lanes Route (Route # 5).

Cross Lanes buses operating westbound will follow Route 62 to Route 25 then continue to 22nd Street in Nitro.  The buses will reverse the route inbound.   

Passengers living on 40th Street south of the bridge may board the Cross Lanes or Nitro bus at the intersection of Route 25 & 40th Street.

Passengers living on 40th Street north of the bridge may board the Cross Lanes bus at the intersection of Route 62 & 40th Street.

Once bridge construction is completed the Cross Lanes bus will return to its regular route.
